Create components with AI

Describe an object in plain language and AI builds it from low-poly parts — saved to your library and placed in the van, ready to refine.

How it works

Create with AI turns a sentence into a 3D component. You describe the object — size, style, colors — and the AI assembles it from the same box, cylinder, sphere, cone, and wedge primitives the component designer uses. The result is saved to My Components and dropped straight into your van, selected, so you see it immediately.

Because the output is ordinary parts, nothing about it is final: open it in the designer to move, resize, recolor, or delete any piece.

  1. In the editor, open the Library tab and press AI at the top.
  2. Describe what you want — for example "A two-drawer bedside cabinet in dark wood, about 45 cm wide" — and press Generate (or Ctrl/⌘ Enter).
  3. Wait a moment while the component is built and saved. It lands in the scene selected, ready to position.
  4. Fine-tune it like any item — or hover it in My Components and choose Edit in designer to reshape the parts themselves.

Writing a good prompt

The AI builds at real-world camper scale and in VanPlot's chunky low-poly style, so the most useful details you can give it are dimensions, materials or colors, and distinctive features.

Tips
  • Name real sizes: "90 cm tall", "fits a 40 cm alcove" — otherwise it assumes typical furniture proportions.
  • Mention colors or materials in plain words: "dark wood", "matte black frame with an amber shade".
  • Call out the features that make the object recognizable — drawer fronts, a round basin, tapered legs — rather than listing every detail.
  • One object per prompt works best. For a kitchen block, generate the counter, fridge, and drawers separately and group them in the editor.
  • Prompts can be up to 2000 characters, but two or three concrete sentences usually beat a paragraph.

What it builds well (and what it won't)

It shines at furniture and fixtures: cabinets, shelving, tables, seats, lamps, storage boxes — anything whose form reads from a handful of chunky shapes (usually 3–15 parts). Suggestion over detail is the aesthetic: a faucet is a bent silhouette, not a threaded fitting.

It won't produce curved organic surfaces, fine mechanical detail, or photoreal models — every result is made of primitives. If you need an exact manufacturer part, Import 3D models is the better path; if you need precise joinery, build it yourself in the designer.

Tip
  • Didn't come out right? Generating again with a sharper prompt is often faster than editing — each attempt is saved separately, so delete the ones you don't keep.
